Pirelli carried out a unique project in the year that marked its 85th anniversary in Brazil, which was celebrated by the restoration of the statue of Christ the Redeemer, after 5 months of work to repair the damage caused by lightning that struck the monument recognized by the UN as one of the wonders of humanity.
To mark this important moment and to tell the whole world the result of this delicate work, four special cameras were placed on the head of the Christ to capture beautiful videos and images of Rio de Janeiro that could be seen in real time on Pirelli’s website.
And a super zoom camera took photos of visitors positioned at the foot of the gigantic statue, which were shared instantly on the user’s social network on Instagram*.
For the first time, instead of tourists simply photographing the statue, thousands of people were photographed by the “Gaze of Christ”
